Barefoot skiing

Barefoot skiing

Barefoot skiing is water skiing behind a motorboat without the use of water skis, commonly referred to as "barefooting".

Barefoot skiing feels quite different to any other form of water skiing. In order to create enough surface tension to stay on top of the water, you need to be traveling quite fast - generally at least 30 MPH and up to 45 MPH. Not to put you off, but there is another aspect of barefoot waterskiing that is pretty unique to it. If you allow your toes to dip into the water, even slightly, even for just a moment, you will face-plant into the water very suddenly and rapidly. Just stay relaxed when you fall, and you can learn to enjoy stacking just as much as the barefooting itself.
